Who is not a Cinema freak here?? Show me one. If U can?!
Those days, in England, "freak" was mostly used to mock a person or insult him. But now, it's the most frequently used word among the youngsters of India to introduce themselves to their new mates or even their Girl/Boy Friends. Especially the most abundantly used labels are "Cinema Freak", "Cricket Freak", "Music Freak" and so on. Interesting.
Well something that tops the list is Cinema freak. Yeah. Cinema has crossed nearly 8 - 9 decades after it's entry into the nation. It is one such field which had shown only improvement along it's course. Right from technical improvements to subject improvisation. Thousand of artists, Hundreds of Creators, Lakhs and Crores of fanatics. Why is the craze? Who creates it? Who is gotta be benefited? Everyone actually.
Bollywood/ Hindi Movie Industry is/was one of the vast industries in the country. It gave the nation, Legends and Masters of the field. Mumbai(Bombay) became one of the most important cities of the world even for this reason. People from all 32 directions of the nation, marched into the city in search of a Big Spot in the industry. Many started learning Hindi, even for this. (Remember Mumbai's state language is Marathi. That is a different issue) Large money was in rotation. Investments grew bigger, and so the technology too. People like Satyajit Ray even got Oscars, however unnoticed. Indianism was showed at it's best. Heroines were impartially beautiful. Heroes started performing somersaults and Triple Jumps even on water. Songs replaced the traditional Carnatic and Hindustani music forms. Wholly, the industry was on fire.
Meanwhile, Tamil film industry was growing at a snail's speed, however constantly. There were only live recordings. Music almost filled 3/4th of the movies. Acting was at it's best, mostly "overperformed". Heroines weren't that beautiful (since they wore only Sarees, closing their back, front, top, bottom everything) but they illustrated the real Feminism at it's best. Thanks for that. Creators weren't good at first. Something was missing. Then, the pace started to grow. Improvements were perfectly put up. Creators came up with astonishing abilities. Sometimes, even Heroes stood as living examples as how an actor must be. Summarising, the industry wasn't on fire. But was slowly lighting up.
Bollywood got the whole craze. No other industry in the nation grew at that pace and got both money and fame as reward. It did. Heroes became the saviours of the world. Heroines became the angels down to earth. A lot of times, it even became the source of creativity. A number of films were remade by slowly opened industries of various languages and parts of the nation. specially Tamil. Then, Kodambakkam knew the tactics how to improve the industry. They had Bombay as a source. Started importing Heroines and even stories. Sometimes Films too. Hundreds of films were "Copied" whether informed or uninformed. Heroes started imitating those at Bollywood, including their dressing styles. Things were moving on.
Time is always a powerful factor It changed things upside down. Now, the South started growing at the maximum pace. North was hanging behind it's back, all along the track. Investments increased in the South. Even bigger production houses from the north, anchored their marines in the south. The compass pointer deflected towards south. Bollywood started importing Heroes, Heroines, Technicians and even Directors from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam industries. Northeast Monsoons changed their course and started blowing as Southwest Monsoons. Money was the deciding factor. Advertising invaded every nook and corner possible. Hindi industry started fearing about things happening. Still, they were left helpless.
Amitabh Bhachchan started to Tweet about Rajnikanth, who once acted in remade films that were the former's originals.
Largely praised heroines like Sri Devi, Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty were actually from south.
The dreams of hundreds of people in that industry about an Oscar was achieved by a young Music Director, originally from South - Rahman.
Films from South were remade in large numbers in Hindi - Ghajini, Bodyguard, Wanted and so on.
Directors from South were welcomed with Red Carpets.
Technicians like Rasool Pookutty from south won Oscars, while people at north were still envying them.
Dance choreographers like Raju Sundaram, Prabhu Deva were depicted as Examples and models for people there.
Folk singers like Chinnaponnu from South started performing at MTV Music Nights.
The traditional "KHAN" surnames in Hindi started praising the heroes at South and considered tweeting about these Big Names in South as a Big Honour.
The White skinned, overrated young male faces at Bombay started dating out with South Indian Beauties.
South Indian Film Industries started winning Cricket matches against those powerful Bollywood stars even.
Sharukh Khan was hibernating his dream project, only to confirm whether Shankar's Robo is not something of the same storyline.
Bollywood's high profile Deepika Padukone was excited to be paired up with Rajnikanth.
Everything changed. But it took decades for this change.
Tamil and Malayalam films were attending International Film Fests when not even one Hindi film was selected for the same events. People at south, once who were always ill-treated comparing with those big fishes at bollywood, now started raising their collars in Pride. The change was unstoppable. The Men at South too.
Everything came up in shape. Budget of films started crossing 1 Billion INR. That's big money.
So, now South is rising to heights that gets the first sunshine, the first raindrop, the first snowfall. But again, Time is the strongest factor. Things may go for a change. Stats may be reversed. Everyone must stay conscious. New creators must come up. People should stop "Copying" firstly. Because, people now started seeing English, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese movies even.
But still, Creators will never stop taking birth. Creations will never restrain their structure. Beyond the limit achievements are on their way. People have paved the path. It's just what transport you take to travel. Slow or fast, progression is what needed. Still, the only demand to be placed is - PLEASE STOP SPOILING THE TRADITION AND CULTURE. Women are not any sexually illustrated contents as shown in Western Films. Stop imitating that attitude in Indian Cinema.
Whatever it is, booking tickets for "First Day First Show" is not gonna be stopped.
70 feet Cut-Outs will always keep on increasing in size.
Heroines will be getting hotter everyday.
And that is what the CRAZE is all about.
MAY THE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES GET MORE SCOPE.
God Bless.
